Welcome to Northfield
Northfield is the best of worlds, a thriving, desirable suburb and a village with hometown charm. Incorporated in 1926 and located 20 miles from the heart of Chicago’s loop. With a population of approximately 5,700 attracts those looking for a small-town way of life near large city.
Northfield’s personality is felt in its rural, countryside atmosphere. When the village was incorporated, a commitment was made to protect open spaces, a commitment that continues today as the Village successfully balances that prized open space with commercial development. There are more than 30 acres of open parkland, including a bird sanctuary. The village is one of the few suburbs that issues licenses for keeping horses.
